Aaron Sorkin’s Daughter

by Kristy on January 17, 2011

This is a video Aaron Sorkin’s acceptance speech rom last night’s Golden Globe Awards where he speaks directly to his daughter, telling her that “elite” is not a bad word.

And I want to thank all the female nominees tonight for helping demonstrate to my young daughter that elite is not a bad word, it’s an aspirational one. Honey, look around, smart girls have more fun, and you’re one of them.

You care because you figure that if his daughter has a problem with being the daughter of an “elite,” then that’s one more girl out that you might actually have a chance of hooking up with — making you want to Google around for a pic of her to make sure that she’s not too old, young, fat, or fugly.

I care because he’s just embarrassed his rebellious daughter on national TV, so she’s probably looking for some new, inventive way to, well, rebel and show her father that she doesn’t have to be a liberal elite to “have more fun”.
